Paint Scheme
I was dozing in bed early one morning and thought, "Hey! Why don't we use the same base color with tribal print... except the tribal print would be in camouflage colors... black, brown, tan, dark green with a high-gloss clear coat over the top! We'd have the Army "thing" going but with a bitchin paint job for show!" And yes, we do keep drugs in the house, why do you ask? :-) War in Iraq...
Having no idea whether this paint job was going to turn out to be the biggest bad dream I've ever had or a truly unique paint job, we decided to do a test on an old helmet that Kade had laying around. We went to the paint store and it took us about 10 seconds to pick the colors out of a paint book... we couldn't have picked better colors if we had spent days. They turned out to be perfect for what we had in mind. Kade sprayed the beige base coat and then airbrushed the tan swatches and black flames on the helmet in no time at all and we had our first look... Cool! On To the Bike!Ok, so we were happy with the design and colors. Now, its time to do the tanks and fenders. The front fender was new so there wasn't much to be done there. The tanks were in pretty good shape, a few small dents but Kade worked those out and filled in the shifter attachment holes. The big work was on the rear fender. It had been bobbed and it looked like a woodpecker had tried to make the holes for the fender support so Kade did a lot on it. Paint DetailsThe paint we used was PPG Deltron:
