Solo Seat
There's not much room on a solo seat for a lot of creativity with the
upholstery... But we came up with a great idea!!
We didn't want to go with the stock, huge ass, seat... even though it might
fit mine better... anyway Kade was making all sorts of solo seats and selling
them on eBay. I liked the size and thought it would help to give the bike
a nice slim "waist".
Keeping with the "Army" theme, I thought a Master Sergeant
insignia, with its bars and rockers, would make a nice design, fit the diamond
shape of the seat perfectly, and keep the military theme
going.
So I got on the internet to find a good copy of the insignia, took the lid off a paint can
as a template to keep the curves the same, and drew the insignia on the back of
a piece of foam. After Kade quit laughing he glued the foam to the back of
some black leather and stitched it up. The picture here is the result of
his first effort.
We think it's pretty much perfect for what we have in mind
for the finished product.
Seat Springs
Hackasaw provided the basic
seat and some 5" chrome seat springs that bolted perfectly to the battery
box mounts on the frame. They should give us all the cushion we're ever
going to need... well.. all we're going to get out of the hardtail
anyway.
Surprising enough, the ride is not bad at all, even on
Michigan roads! And the seat is curved in just the right places so it's
very comfortable.
